Right now, in our ever-changing world, this is the question I ask most often.
When I see or hear changes, I ask myself, “what can I do to help?” So much of what’s happening with clients, colleagues, family, friends, our communities, and the world feels out of our control, and it really is.
When you ask what CAN I do, it puts you in a resourceful state of mind and moves you to action. You shift from being stuck and go into a creative state.
If there’s nothing you can come up with in the moment, taking care of yourself is something you can always do. Exercise, rest, go for a walk, call a friend, play a game, write, do a puzzle, read, meditate, or learn something new; these are all great ways to take care of yourself.
When you’re feeling helpless or down amidst everything happening, offer help and connect with others. You won’t feel that way anymore.
“Our greatest weapon against stress is our ability to choose one thought over another.”
William James
