Are You a Good Receiver? #130
One of the requests I make at the workshops I lead is to “be willing to receive as much as you give.”
Believe it or not, this is a challenge for many leaders.
Are you a good receiver?
When people compliment you, do you immediately reciprocate with a compliment back out of habit, obligation or discomfort? Many people do.
Do you receive help or assistance well? One of the most effective ways to expand your impact is to ask for and receive help. Though you are a highly competent person, you’re not the most effective at everything. It’s just not possible.
For most leaders, I find this one sticking point to be something worth marinating on.
If you don’t receive well, over time, you will be surrounded by people who do. And you will wonder why you are so tired, depleted and eventually resentful. The takers of the world will happily hang around.
If you want to maximize your impact, you must be willing to receive as much as you give. The givers around you crave the same experience you offer.
