Complacency is the Enemy #168
As a leader, you have the honor of caring for the tone of your culture daily.
Some days, that may feel like a privilege and other days it may seem a burden.
What’s the difference? It’s how you’re relating to the complex beings around you and the interpretation you have about how they “should be” versus how they “are.”
I often say that business is easy, humans are not.
How you relate to their complexity is a reflection of you, not them. To lead means to do so when it’s inconvenient, uncomfortable and challenging.
Should you forget for a moment, please remember your business is simply an offering in the world. Without people, it will die.
Leadership means remembering “why” when things become muddled. Complacency is the enemy.
