Simply Perfect #1116

by Sue Hawkes

Today, before I packed for travel to Dallas, we decided to spend the better part of a perfect day on our pontoon enjoying the tranquil beauty of the day enjoying a slow cruise on the water.

It’s a simple pleasure, yet I was overtaken several times in the day with overwhelming feelings of peace and joy. We never tire of it.

Whatever nagging concerns we had prior to our voyage dissipate as we leave the shore with our standard supplies: people we love, an eclectic playlist (compiled from all our guests over the years), an assortment of savory snacks and delicious beverages, some giant noodles to float on when we need to cool down, and an abundance of sunscreen for the moments in between.

In the hustle and bustle of life, as I find myself chasing after bigger achievements and grander experiences, I don’t want to overlook the pure and unadulterated joy that can be found in the simplest of moments. While seeking the extraordinary, often the true magic lies in the ordinary.

In this fast-paced world, finding joy in these simple pleasures becomes a transformative experience. It reminds me to appreciate the present moment, to savor the connections we have, and to revel in the beauty of simplicity. It reminds me that happiness is not found solely in grand achievements but in the small, precious moments we share.

It’s gratifying to appreciate days like this, I realize they are available whenever I choose to be fully present.

Today I need nothing else.

It was perfectly simple and simply perfect.
