Another Turn Around The Sun #516

by Sue Hawkes

Birthdays are funny, they are a wonderful and commemorative way to reflect on what a difference a year can make.

2020 is one for the books for most of us.

Certainly, there have been as many highlights as challenges, yet the older I get, the more the years seem to accelerate and bring the preciousness of time into focus.

As I think about what I thought 2020 would be and where I am, there are few things I’d change, but one event certainly does. With the loss of my best friend, we will never realize the business we intended to build together, the joy of connecting every day with our signature greeting, the walks we took, or the shared birthday dinners with our spouses. The future is no longer possible in the same way.

While it will never be the same, we maximized the time we had and prioritized our friendship, families and meaningful memory making experiences over anything else. I will never be the same and this past year will be commemorated most by her memory, not the flurry of changes the pandemic offered.

With 2021, my age now ends with a 6 and when that happens my thinking tells me I’m closer to the next rounded number rather than the one preceding – 26 is closer to 30 than 20 – and, no, I’m not 26. Time moves swiftly – there is no time to waste.

With that, please know we’re creating a community to support Intentional Greatness® together. Please join me here and maximize today, it’s the one you’ve got.
