My husband goes hunting every year. It’s a tradition he’s shared with his family for the majority of his life.
He looks forward to the trip and enjoys spending quality time connecting and conversing with his parents and brother-in-law in addition to quality time outdoors.
Though he hasn’t shot anything since we’ve been together, it’s something he is excited for every year. Time in nature is an incredible thing. He always returns refreshed from time with his family and the peace he finds being alone outside.
One year, early in our relationship, he wrote me a love letter from his perch in the woods. It’s the most touching, heartfelt gift I’ve ever received.
It’s like a love song in a letter, fully expressing the depth of his love to me.
I think of it every year as he’s preparing to leave. This year I was prompted to search for it, and I couldn’t find it, I’ve tucked it away because it’s so deeply personal.
I was slightly panicked, searching at a frenzied pace until Kevin found it. Relief followed and I read it again, crying my way through every word.
This one-page gift was written with frozen fingers and a full heart years ago. It means the world to me.
Have you written a love letter?
Perhaps you should…
