Being efficient and effective are important to me. In fact, they may be a love language! 😊
This week, two of my teams focused on language as they set their goals for the year, so we promptly dug into our dictionary to discern the difference between efficient and effective.
According to dictionary.com,
Efficient = performing or functioning in the best possible manner with the least waste of time and effort
Effective = adequate to accomplish a purpose; producing the intended or expected result
When I think about the two, they’re not the same and I’ve treated them as if they were. In the beginning of anything, it’s great to be effective. It helps with proof of concept and establishes the trend for success.
Once something is established, if it’s core to you or your business, you’re seeking efficiency over time or you’re wasting time, energy, and money.
I’m an efficient person. Having results happen optimally with the least wasted time and effort is worth it.
How can you be more effectively efficient today?
