The Precious Present #1036

by Sue Hawkes

Returning from time away is always bittersweet.

I know it’s been a great trip when I’m ready to go home, and also happy to have been away. That sweet spot of the trip being long enough to relax and the peace of returning to my own space, sleeping in my own bed, and seeing my bulldog’s wiggle-filled greeting upon our return.

Enjoying where you are and being fully present fills you up.

A change of scenery, joy-filled time with friends, quality time recharging, and warmer temperatures break up the stress of full lives and winter temps.

Regardless of the challenges, being present is the solution to so many things.

When we dwell in the future we’re worried and anxious.

Dwelling in the past can conjure feelings of fear and regret.

Having tools to reconnect with here and now fuels better thinking and clarity.

Given that 90-95% of all illness is caused or exacerbated by stress, it makes sense to invest time and energy in consistently being ever more present.
