I purchased a book years ago, called “You Can’t Afford the Luxury of a Negative Thought” by Peter McWilliams.
Though it’s not a literary keepsake, the title says it all.
Thinking about your thinking is a game changer.
Of all the thoughts you can have, why would you waste one thought on negativity?
I’m challenging that premise today as I put on my swimsuit after a long, snowy winter in Minnesota. My tendency (along with everyone I know) is to criticize our bodies, hide ourselves and wish we looked differently than we do.
Yet when I see others at the beach, they look beautiful and content with how they are.
Today is a day to practice new thinking and catch the criticisms while reframing them to loving thoughts.
I’m ready for this habit to be gone.
