Are You Misaligned? Part 1 #1251

by Sue Hawkes

Do you ever feel like things aren’t right, but you can’t put your finger on why? Often, we play it off as stress or a lack of work-life balance, but without looking deeper, we aren’t fixing the problem.

Instead of adding another productivity hack to fix our unsatisfied feelings, we need to slow down and look deep within ourselves to ask what is not working. When we allow ourselves space, we’ll be able to get to the root cause of our feelings.

Use these three ways to help you identify where you are misaligned rather than muscling through it with one more productivity hack.

Journal

Journaling helps create clarity in your thoughts and feelings, facilitates more effective decision making, and reduces stress. Beyond that, seeing on paper what you are thinking creates an objective perspective, allowing you the opportunity to address issues and work through them while bypassing your negative, self-doubting thoughts that cloud your judgment.

To begin journaling when assessing your values, ask yourself some simple questions:

  1. What am I pretending not to know?
  1. What life am I waiting to live?
  1. If I had nothing on my to-do list, what would emerge?

Find more journaling prompts in our 365-Day Maximizing Success Journal, which includes a question each day and theme each week. It’s everything you need to start your reflection journey. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s blog where I’ll be sharing the rest of the practices to identify your misalignment.
