What It Takes #1338

by Sue Hawkes

Consistency. It’s elusive to many of us.

When learning, it’s the deal maker.

When seeking mastery, it separates those who excel from those who don’t.

In any situation where you seek to deliver excellence, from cooking to performing, doing your work to playing sports, learning an instrument or a new language, art, leadership or any other venture – it requires consistency.

Without it, you will find reasons NOT to practice, work through challenge, find new ways to create value, and you will blame others.

When you can do something over and over, raising the bar while approaching your practice as a beginner, success is around the corner. Along your journey, you simply have to learn to ignore boredom, frustration, reasons, excuses, justifications, explanations, stories, inconvenience, comfort, complacency, conformity, ease, rationalization and tiredness amongst other explainable experiences.

Consistency is the difference-maker when winning at anything.
