All Green Lights #194

All Green Lights #194

Failing forward. It’s a catchy term that’s popular right now.

If you’re the kind of person who’s afraid to fail or doesn’t appreciate constructive feedback, please consider the following metaphor Laura Kelly shared with me:

Now, imagine being on the road with only green lights…for everyone. How would that work? It wouldn’t.

Hearing only positive feedback would be like driving on the road with all green lights. It wouldn’t work.

Whatever your age, are you at your personal best right now? Is this as good as it will ever get? Are you at 100% of what’s possible for you? I didn’t think so.

Failing forward means learning to give and receive corrective feedback well. If you don’t do so, you’ll fail, and you won’t move forward.
